June27 Lefty Loch Lomond

World No 2 Phil Mickelson has confirmed that he will compete in the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond the week before the Open Championship, providing that he recovers from a wrist injury.

The 37-year-old missed the cut at the recent US Open at Oakmont after injuring his wrist during a practice session.

“I like to compete the week before a Major. Going to the Scottish Open also helps me acclimatise,” said the Californian.

South African trio Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman and Retief Goosen will join Mickelson at the event which starts on July 12, while US Open champion Angel Cabrera will also compete. Luke Donald and Lee Westwood will lead the British charge at the Strathclyde venue.
