Mar28 Trumpscot plans

This Friday is D-Day for The Donald’s – American business tycoon Donald Trump – plans to get the go ahead to build a major new golf resort near Aberdeen, Scotland.

Plans for mega-rich Trump’s proposed multi-million pound resort are due to go before Aberdeenshire Council and The Donald is optimistic of getting the green light for the spectacular project which will include two stunning 18 hole courses and a 450 room hotel near Balmedie, just north of Aberdeen.

One key person certainly on Trump’s side is Jacky Selway, Business Tourism Manager of Aberdeen Convention Bureau, who is backing him all the way. She said:  “The availability of high profile golfing facilities outside St Andrews and Gleneagles could be a decisive factor in attracting business tourism to the north east and the construction of a 450 room hotel will be a welcome addition to the area’s bed stocks.

“Golf can be everything from a determining reason for choice of business tourism destination to a key motivator in the choice, to a valuable ‘add on’. Once completed, this resort is likely to attract business people of the highest calibre which can only be beneficial for the region’s economy.”

Soon after the project was announced, Today’s Golfer exclusively interviewed the main man himself during a visit to Scotland and Trump emphasised he wanted to create an extraodinary golfing venue including “the greatest course in the world.”

Trump even talked about taking The Open to Aberdeen which sounds a bit of a pipedream but with The Donald you just never know. Mind you, he first has to overcome the hurdle of Friday’s final planning hearing but, like Tiger Wopods, you wouldn’t bet against him achieving his goal would you?
