May25 Wentworth latest

Justin Rose has fired a second-round 70 at Wentworth to retain the lead in the BMW PGA Championship.

He’s joined at the top of the leaderboard by fellow Englishman Ross Fisher, who shot a brilliant 67 – including a birdie-eagle-birdie finish – to move to seven under, just one off the pace.

Overnight leader Paul Broadhurst is still in the hunt after posting a level par 72 to be tied third on six under, but Wentworth resident Ernie Els has fallen away from the pack into a tie for 11th after his level par round.

The other movers on day two include Padraig Harrington, whose pair of 69s see him tied third at six under, while Miguel Angel Jimenez fired a 68 on Friday to join Harrington at -6.

With a projected cut of +2, some big names who are on the number could miss the weekend – including Colin Montgomerie, Thomas Bjorn and Ian Poulter.

And the stars who definitely won’t be around on Saturday include Retief Goosen (+6), Johan Edfors (+7) and Michael Campbell (+9).
