sept4 Cinkrevsup

US Ryder Cup ace Stewart Cink revved up for tomorrow’s BMW Championship at Cog Hill G&CC, Chicago, in speedy style…at the nearby Autobahn Country Club race track.

Cink lined up in the “Power of Driving Challenge” which also featured racing car driver Graham Rahal and BMW professional motor cycle rider Nick Kern. It was all about speed over a 300 yards distance and it was the golfer who comfortably emerged on top, winning the series 3-0 with the BMW K1200R Sport bike finishing runner-up all three times with the BMW M6 car at the rear each time.

Cink unleashed his Nike Sasquatch Sumo 10.5 degrees driver to devastating effect, winning the opening “race” by 30ft, the second by 10-15ft with Cink rounding-off with a 20-30ft success over the two-wheeler.

Said Cink afterwards: “It was certainly a different start to my usual golfing week. It was definitely an interesting set-up with the track, the hot weather and everything.

“My ball speed is around the 175mph mark and I knew the golf ball would be hard to beat. The difference between mine and the other two forms of transport is that they’re both accelerating at a time when my ball is decelerating!

“But I could really feel the power of those vehicles which were just yards away from me and it wasn’t easy to concentrate on hitting my shots. But it was great fun and I’m glad I did it,” added Cink who celebrated his victory with a spin round the track himself, opting for the four-wheeled mode of transport.
