The South Essex Golf Centre hosted the first ever Today's Golfer Challenge event. A strong turn out combined with fantastic weather and facilites meant everyone enjoyed their day even if the all the scores didn't reflect it!
To kick off proceedings we were given a presentation by PGA Tour Fitness guru Ron Cuthbert and his son Ben. They spoke about how important is is to be in the right frame of mind before you walk onto the course and also about the importance of warming up correctly and some techniques to ensure you rip up the course!
After Ron's presentation we were treated to a fantastic demonstration by resident professional Kevin Merry, who proved that you dont have to be super fit to be a super golfer.
Then it was down to the real business of the day: The golf! The course was in superb condition and the winners took full advantage of it.
Top of the pile was Mark Hepworth with a sound 39 points with Steve Cook hot on his heals with 38 points (possibly more if things had gone to plan on the 18th), in third was John Summers with 37 points. Check out the top 10 leaderboard here
A huge thank you to all the players, South Essex Golf Club for the excellent facilities, Kevin Merry, Ron and Ben Cuthbert for making the day such a success.
