What we say...

I head out onto the course to review the latest addition to OGIO’s already illustrious lineup, the OGIO Fuse Stand Bag

A brand well-known for producing some of the best golf bags on the market, OGIO have upped the game for 2024 with some exciting new products being introduced to the OGIO lineup. The rein-visaged Fuse stand bag is the perfect bag for an already impressive collection. OGIO have a selection of high-quality golf bags but what was potentially missing was a lightweight stand bag to complete the lineup and the Fuse is just that.

Initial thoughts

Delivery day of any new golf bag is exciting, especially if it is the latest and greatest OGIO stand bag. Known for outlandish designs and superb quality, I was full of anticipation when the box arrived in the office. The OGIO-stamped box was quickly dismantled to reveal the wonderful Graffiti Kaleidoscope Fuse stand bag, I was certainly not disappointed when I laid eyes on it for the first time. There will be golfers out there who aren’t fans of OGIO because their bags can be quite garish but I think this bag in this particular colorway will prove popular with many.

The contrast of the Graffiti color with the yellow trim and black base looks amazing. The colored straps, back pad, and side panel really make the bag pop but not overwhelm its aesthetic. The stand system felt solid and the bag sports rather convenient grab handles which make picking up and moving the bag really easy. The padded shoulders and backrest have had a lot of thought go into them and are well designed and positioned to give the user the utmost comfort on the course. Before I had even played any holes with the bag it felt that a lot of thought had gone into the design in areas where they can most help the golfer who is going to be wearing the bag for 18 holes.

Impact on my game

The first thing I noticed when fully loaded with all the bits and bobs was how light the bag was! At just 4.8 lbs or for our metric readers 2.1 kg the bag is ideal for a long day on the links or just a quick post-work nine holes, if you like to carry and want a bag for any occasion this could be just that. I was a huge fan of the Fit disk carry system which balanced out the straps evenly to ensure the load was well spread making the bag easy to carry as it adapted to you adjusting the straps to how you needed them straight away. Sadly the straps were a little on the chunky side so it took some getting used to but don’t be alarmed as they were still comfy!

With a lightweight bag, it’s always thought that you may lose a bit of strength in the bag but that isn’t the case with the Fuse, it is strong and provides a good sturdy base once on the ground so no need to worry there. Building on the success of other bags in the lineup the Fuse features the new over-molded top is great at organising clubs but over time seems like it may cause a few wear marks on your graphite shafts due to its firmness. The bag’s 4-way full-length dividers also help separate clubs neatly which I found helped get the clubs in and out of the bag much easier.

OGIO 2024 Fuse Stand Bag Rapid Access Pockets

The one thing OGIO has always done, which I love, is make their bags convenient for the golfer and that trend carries on into the Fuse stand bag. The iconic Profile three-ball silo makes accessing your golf balls much quicker rather than rummaging through the depths of your bag to find one, if you ask me it makes the process of losing them much faster. Another cool addition to the convenience of this bag is the Rapid snap access pockets, one on the front and one on the side they made getting balls, tees, and your phone out of your bag simple. One takeaway I had is that they won’t be for everyone, I thought they were a great addition but the front ball pocket was fiddly and is small, for anyone with bigger hands it can be hard to get in and out of the pocket.

After testing multiple golf bags over my time at TG I’ve found that many stand bags lack the necessary storage to fit all your clubs and belongings in but the Fuse provides an ample amount of storage for what you need. The bag features the previously mentioned Rapid Access Pockets plus six front-facing pockets which provide plenty of space for everything you need on the course. The ball silo, umbrella holder, and external cooler pocket provide room for extra bits which often take up space in the bag. A downside for me, especially being from the UK, is that the bag doesn’t feature a waterproof valuables pocket. I understand the bag is not waterproof but during my first round, I happened to get caught out in a 20-minute shower in which my wallet and phone struggled to stay dry in the felt-lined pocket.

Value for money?

The Fuse stand bag is certainly worth the money, it lives up to the quality of OGIO bags I’ve had in the past. If you like to stand out on the course and care for a good quality product that will keep your clubs safe this is the bag for you. At £229/$229 this bag is competing with some great bags in the premium market but it certainly stands out due to its style and functionality.

Final verdict

This is a superb golf bag that is more than capable of answering the questions asked of it. Other than a slight lack of waterproofing, I could happily game this golf bag all year round. Plenty of room for your clubs and in an organized fashion, the bag feels quality and is built to last for sure. If you want to stand out on the course then this bag lets you do just that. I was a big fan of this bag and I believe it would be a welcomed addition to your setup if you’re after a new stand bag or just want to jazz yourself up a little.
