Sherry Golf Jerez

What we say

Just outside the city limits of Jerez, Sherry Golf Jerez only opened last summer yet you wouldn’t know it to look at it. It’s an attractive and demanding golf course that will test everyclub in the bag. And we mean test, with water on eight holes – including a nightmarish stretch from the 13th to the 16th. Greens are incredibly quick, and while the local scenery leaves a lot to be desired (drab fields and a busy road) the clubhouse makes up for it.

The 2004 Sherry Golf Jerez is typical American target golf, with length, lakes and  plenty of sand. Wide fairways and big greens give you a chance. A venue for the Spanish Men's Amateur event, it is on the outskirts of Jerez and not far from the airport. The golf course overlooks the region's sherry vineyards, while a bunker on the 18th is shaped like a horse's head in homage to the region's tradition of show horses.

A front nine which rises up for four holes and then drops gently back to the clubhouse gives no clues to the perils of the back nine.Water everyhere means accuracy iis essential if you are to make a score. My wife and I have played it four times now and an extreemley fair teeing system makes it her favourite course in the region. All the times we have played it has been in great condition and the views of Jerez and the sherry vineyards are great.
