As Andrew Cotter explains (right), Barassie has been developed in recent years and now has 27 full-length holes. The championship 18 nearly nudges up to 7,000 yards and hosted Local Final Qualifying for the 2009 Open. The old holes are delightfully linksy while the newer ones, which move towards the border with Dundonald, much more open in nature.
