Ilford Golf Club

What we say

Ilford Golf Club, established in 1907, is situated a stone's throw from London's East End and is built and maintained to USGA standards.

Ilford is a relatively short course at 5,301 yards, but accuracy off the tee and when playing into the greens is vital - any bad misses and you'll be punished.

The greens are usually a pleasure to play on, running true and fast, ideal for good scoring but they're also susceptible to the odd three-putt.

A lovely course that you can play for a really good price.

Your Reviews

  • 4 out of 5 A great sociable club with a fantastic clubhouse atmosphere.

The club has had its fair share of trauma's through the years. It survived the bombings of the second world war, only to be hit by the North Circular cutting through the middle of the course seperating the clubhouse from the course itself, to more recently where Thames water decided to rip up the 4th hole and lay a pipeline beneath it. The course, of course, has changed immensely. Being an inner city course there is not much room to house the 18 holes, but Ilford have managed it spledidly. The course provides a very stern test to your golfing abilities. Straight, is the order of the day. There is trouble aplenty, with a fair amount of OOB, trees, water, ditches and bunkers. Although not the longest of courses, it still manages to house a fair few long and very tough par 4's and the par 3's are a very tough test, the short one's being well guarded by bunkers, the long ones providing very small target areas. Accurate is the name of the game here. The clubhouse atmosphere is great here, with very friendly staff and the members all make you feel as though you're a member yourself. Highly recommended for a city course!
