Upminster Golf Club

What we say

Even without its historical Club House, the Club would have many excuses for self-congratulation.  It is an 18 hole, picturesque parkland course on high ground sloping down to the small River Ingrebourne that meanders its way through the lower part of the course on its way to join the Thames.   In some areas of the course, it is hard to imagine that you are still in suburban London and yet you can stand on the 17th green and see Canary Wharf reaching for the sky.

Its accessibility is another good point.  The Club is easy to get at being situated within  2 – 3 miles of the M25 or Gallows Corner (the junction of the A12 - the Colchester road and the A127 - the Southend road).

The course itself, whilst on the short side (6031 yards off the back tees), with more par threes than one meets on most courses — five of them — but a fine test of accurate golf  nevertheless, and giving more opportunities for long hitting than a glance at the card might lead us to suppose.   Golfers of all abilities can get great satisfaction from playing the course.carried out to some greens and fairways.

In recent years considerable drainage work has been carried to some greens and fairways. This has meant that during the winter months there has been fewer temporary greens and regular use of trolleys.
