  • 4.5 out of 5 Society Haven !

    By gdjohnson

I played Rufford Park with our Society on Sunday 26th April. Having played the course a few times before I had expections before playing. What a surprise we had ! From a society point of view it doesn’t really get much better than this. I have to say that the service we received was just first class from start to finish and the course was in superb condition. From booking everything was just straight forward, nearest pin and longest drive markers were driven out so no one had to carry them out and bring them back. The course layout is as interesting as you can get and is a fair challenge of golf. The first is a gentle par 4 that bears to the left The second a steady par 5. The hole that stood out most for me was the 17th par 3 from an elevated tee 169yards from the yellows over water with access to the green over a small bridge. We also used this hole for our nearest to the pin, on hindsight we should have named it nearest to the green !!! Overall excellent facilities, everything is in one place , no walking between clubhouse to changing rooms. It’s just setup perfectly, excellent course and an excellent day, other golf clubs should come here and see how it should be done ! Credit where credit is due !!

  • 4 out of 5 Excellent welcome, good facilities and a WOW 17th

    By GloucesterGolfer

Played the course 3 times in 1 week. The welcome was one of the best iv received, this continued all week. I started at the range, which is in keeping with the course, picturesque, if a little narrow. The course layout if great for driving and I couldnt wait to get to the 17th, standing 200yr above the green a 170yrs carry over water. A real test of nerve. I will defo be going back, at £25 its a steal.

  • 3.5 out of 5 Excellent course which has the potential to be even better

I have played this course many times and although still fairly new it has changed a lot in its history (perhaps too much in places). It certainly has the WOW factor when stood on the elevated 17th Tee when you are all square in a tense bit of match play. You play 170 yards down to a small green surrounded by water on the front and right - a true test of bottle. The staff are very welcomming and helpful and the terrace makes for a great 19th hole. My only problem is the greens are not what you would expect from a course charging over £25 (weekend rates). Overall a great driving course with a number of interesting holes.
