Trethorne Golf Club

What we say

Trethorne has come on leaps and bounds since opening nearly 20 years ago and is well worth diverting from the busy A30 – gateway to the county’s attractions (on and off course) – for.

It’s a fast-maturing undulating parkland track with a good variety of holes, most being tree-lined and several featuring water hazards. It’s gone up another notch too since a host of significant modifications, including drainage and tees improvements, were carried out.

Trethorne is a decent all round golfing venue, offering impressive two-tier driving range facilities and a number of accommodation options, including lodges with all mod cons, if you fancy extending your stay. And if you relish  taking the sporting competition indoors you can even take advantage of the fun on-site tenpin bowling alley!

On or off course you’ll have a good time and won’t be hit too hard where it hurts most – in the pocket. Trethorne, particularly for golfers with a 2-FORE!-1 voucher, is all about value-for-money….

Trethorne Golf Club is a picturesque and challenging Par 71 parkland golf course, with numerous water hazards and tree-lined fairways. The golf club is well known for its friendly and down to earth Cornish hospitality, offering good quality home cooked food in a relaxed and welcoming Clubhouse. The large Restaurant and nearby Ten Pin Bowling Centre make this an ideal venue for larger groups and societies.

The Golf Club also benefits from a fully stocked Professional Golf Shop, a floodlit Driving Range, a substantial fleet of buggies and Big Screen SKY TV.

Accommodation at Trethorne comprises seven Clubhouse Rooms, four Lodges and two detached Cottages, sleeping up to a maximum of 70 guests. All rooms are of a good size, offering en-suite facilities, and include TV and tea/coffee making facilities.

Trethorne is situated 3 miles outside of Launceston, just minutes off the main A30 route into Cornwall. Launceston offers over a dozen bars and restaurants, a nightclub and shopping centre. The Eden Project is 40 minutes away and the beauty of the North and South coasts only half an hour away.

  • 5 out of 5 annual event?

    By darren ward

having played here last year i thought i'd know what to expect. wrong! they have done some good work on the course and it played superbly. it's definately not the course to forget your brain. a course guide or gps is almost a must to get that good round. recommend buggy hire as i had to walk with an electic trolley on our 4th and final round sun morning at sure makes a difference on this hilly course. it looks like we have an annual event here now! FANTASTIC

  • 3.5 out of 5 Great challenge

    By BudgieB

Just played it yesterday. Fast greens and a few tight fairways, driver not needed a great deal, yardages quite deceptive which ensures that each hole is very different and makes you think a lot about every shot. We had the summer special, full english breakfast (a mans size!!)  and 18 holes, £26! All round good value for money in a very freindly atmosphere. Looking forward to visiting again.

  • 4.5 out of 5 when can i come back?

    By darren ward

just had a 3 day group visit to trethorne and i want to go back now! superbly organised, fantastic views and excellent course. the greens are very quick and challenging like the rest of the course. the only down was the edges of greens were recently relaid and had raised up due to the amount of rain seen down there.

  • 4 out of 5 Great all round course

    By abbenick

Just come back from 3 days at threthorne and can I say what a great course. Its great to have a course that makes you think about shots rather than just hit as far as possible although there is some great holes to let it rip. The par 4 4th hole to me was the best hole and bearing in mind the bad weather when we were there the greens were still superb. The accommodation the food and the friendliness of the staff made this a very enjoyable trip.

  • 3.5 out of 5 Trethorne Golf Club, a reasonable priced, challenging well kept golf course

    By NigelReed

I played this course with my father who is a member. I was staggered by how every hole makes you think about your next shot. The scenery was fantastic and the course was in good condition considering the amount of rain we have had. The greens were quick and very deceptive. Overall I would rate this course as it was excellent value for money and well worth playing. There were a number of holes which stand out but the tricky 4th was excellent.
