Wales

The first Ryder Cup to be staged in Wales brought tremendous focus on golf in the country. As a result, more and more of us are now travelling over the Severn Bridge or down the M65 and A55 to enjoy what is a routinely memorable golf break.

In Golf Escapes’ fairly extensive experience of playing in Wales, those journeys are always fruitful. In fact, we have always believed it was one of the very best destinations in the British Isles – with fantastic courses of every type, every age and to suit every pocket.

The Ryder Cup venue, Celtic Manor Resort, is a fairly recent addition, and so too are big courses at The Vale and Machynys Peninsula.

But the rest of the really top-drawer stuff has been there since around the turn of the century. The 20th Century.

And no matter whether you play on an ancient links or a new parkland, or whether you play in North, Mid or South Wales, there are some very welcome common denominators to playing golf in this magical country: truly amazing value for money; a feeling of playing at ‘proper’ golf clubs; and the warmest of welcomes.
