What we say

Aroeira I

At only 30 minutes far from Lisbon centre, on the other side of the Tagus river, having an extremely mild climate, allowing to play golf along all the year, is located the Aroeira Country Club which has 2 fields with 18 holes, is considered by the experts, as one of the best Golf Complex of Europe. Aroeira “I” was designed by Frank Pennick one of the most well-known and famous Golf fields architects, that has achieved here a real master-piece, to reach, in exemplar way to requisites of a championship golf with the spontaneous and savage nature harmony which shelters and surrounds it. Therefore the player can simultaneously satisfy himself in its favourite game and “to feel” the calm effect by walking in a natural park. With an extend of 6044 meters, each hole was thought to the very detail with its difficulty and satisfaction grade but having all as common denominator the “Tifton 419” the famous hybrid brought from Georgia, which offers the best “carpet” for the modality and gives to “Aroeira” the known as “one of the best grounds in Portugal”. This is why several British columnists clasify “aroeira” as the “Wentworth” of Lisbon.

  • 2 out of 5 Aroeira 1 review

    By Bertie

    - We stayed at an apartment on Aroeira resort which was very nice, no complaints at all 10 out of 10. - The clubhouse is worth a stop after 18 for a drink/lunch. - The golf course is a nice design with some nice holes, but it is looking rather dated. - The tees are terrible without a flat lie, worst than a Pitch and Putt course - The fairways were very patchy in places with no grass or just sand. Bunkers were in great condition. - The greens are left very lush meaning they are hard to read and all different speeds with no true roll. They can't even be bothered with simple dew removal, so if you play early in the morning, hit that putt hard !!!
