What we say
A scintillating front nine followed by a solid back nine make Portsalon Golf Club one of the best courses in the area.
Pat Ruddy created a superb links here at Portsalon Golf Club it continues to evolve under the guidance of 2014 Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley, a big fan of the course.
McGinley calls in from time to time for a general review of the work undertaken and he believes the new look will enhance the presentation of the Portsalon course as a first-class venue.

A fun and scenic links layout well worth playing it includes one of the finest tee shots in Ireland. After a workmanlike 1st hole, the 2nd takes the breath away in every respect… for the sea view from its elevated tee, for the breeze that is likely blowing across your left cheek and for the challenge that awaits.
It is an epic hole, one up there with the revered 1st at Machrihanish, and helps set the tone for a memorable round.

The remainder of the front nine is also terrific, playing between and around mid-sized dunes towards excellent greens.
While the back nine loses a little of its excitement towards the end, this is a course we rated highly enough to include in our 2018 GB&I Top 100 and naturally our GB&I Links Top 100.
