DESCRIPTION: Host of eight Open Championships – most recently won by Todd Hamilton in 2004 – Troon is a classic in-and-out links through dunes, brambles and gorse. The front nine plays along the beach and then you turn inland on the back. It’s not long by modern standards, but the club’s motto – tam arte quam marte (as much by skill as by strength) – is very apt.
