Carnoustie’s neighbour offers much of the same as The Open venue in terms of look and feel – Scots pines, dunes, quick greens – but is much more playable for the amateur golfer. The sand hills in the middle of the course provide the highlight with the 12th, ‘Buddon Burn’ – a slight dog-leg to a green with run-offs on three sides – a real gem.
