Slovenia

There is more history to Slovenian golf than you might think. Be prepared for a very pleasant surprise…

For many centuries, nature lovers and sports enthusiasts from across the world have been enchanted by Slovenia – and Bled
in particular. Today it is visited by thousands of tourists seeking to experience for themselves one particular wonder of nature – a unique island on an Alpine lake surrounded by mountains and overlooked by a majestic castle.

Others visit Bled simply to indulge in the original Bled cream cake or to enjoy a relaxing walk by the lake. The resort is famed for having many regular guests who have been coming to Bled for decades and have inspired a similar love for the
town in the next generation.

You can drive across the whole country in two hours and Slovenia was named this year as among the top 10 tourist destinations in the world by Lonely Planet.

Within the well-known alpine resort, Bled Golf Course is the oldest and the largest golf course in Slovenia – and you might be
surprised to learn it dates back as far as 1937; many visiting golfers claim it to be one of the most beautiful courses in Europe.

With its 27 holes, the two courses offer countless challenges. The 18-hole King’s Golf Course is a masterpiece by the famous architect Don Harradine and has been ranked by Golf World as one of the Top 100 Courses in Continental Europe.

You enjoy playing among treelined fairways with spectacular breathtaking views of Slovenia‘s highest mountains. In the recent past, Bled has hosted many important professional and amateur events on the European level (such as LPGA Tour, the Challenge Tour, European Boys Team Championship, European Ladies Team Championship) and many important Slovenian tournaments.

You can play golf within 30 miles in three countries; Slovenia, Austria and Italy. The Bled resort alone offers an excellent mix of hotels, from the exclusive, five-star experience in the famous Grand Hotel Toplice to family hotels and a new unique, luxury camping experience – Glamping.

The best choice for golfers is The King’s Clubhouse which is situated right next to the Bled course. All facilities are operated by the biggest tourist company in Slovenia and marketed under Sava Hotels & Resorts brand.

For non-golfers, Bled offers superb spa facilities, outdoor activities like walking, biking, trekking, rafting and more. Around Ljubljana you can spend a day exploring the immense culture and history of the city.

A perfect day in Slovenia? Start the day on the Bled golf course then visit the Slovenian capital Ljubljana in the afternoon where there are plenty of opportunities for shopping and culinary delights.
