Addington Court Golf Club

What we say

What to expect: Benefits from exceptional drainage so you’ll almost certainly be playing the full course. No temporary greens.
Play it: At the heart of suburban Surrey you’ll discover a gem of a GB&I Top 100 course which seems to keep getting better. Immensely enjoyable if you can keep it straight, immensely frustrating if you can’t! The fairways wander through mature pine and birch, which create a real feeling of intimacy. The 225-yard par-3 13th has been described as the greatest one-shot hole in inland golf.

Addington Court Golf Centre is one of the leading golfing centres facilities in Southern England.

As well as the championship golf course, designed in 1932, Addington boasts a further 18-hole golf course, a nine-hole golf course and an 18-hole pitch and putt, all set in picturesque and undulating parkland within easy reach of London.

Two golf shops and excellent teaching facilities contribute to a great golf experience for players of all levels.

...and courses in undesirable areas. They own Orpington golf centre in St Pauls Cray, and also this course in New Addington. Hard to feel comfortable when you play as you do not feel safe. The course is very short, with no protection as the fairways are too wide. Only for beginners.

So I learned how to play golf here so I am going to be a bit biased. Indeed I still play a lot of my golf here. Some of the holes are as easy on the eye as you will find anywhere - I still love looking down the 12th on an august afternoon or walking up the 16th on a sunny morning, the greens are large and immaculate, the welcome warm and the service impecable. HOWEVER it suffers from being short, the fairways are a little too wide and the rough is not that challenging. So my average here for the end of last year was a good 3/5 shots less than other courses and it can feel a little fiddly - especially off the yellows. But I cannot wait for my sons to be old enough to play so I can take them round with me (mind you when that time comes I am taking a buggy up hole 6 - Everest!)

  • 3 out of 5 Addington in the rain!

    By simonp

Typical. You arrange a couple of days away to play some new courses and it rains...and rains and rains. Luckily Addington is well drained and, thanks to a large amount of water, is very green. Some of the holes are pretty testing as long as you're not super long off the tee and the undulating fairways make every shot a bit of a challenge. The facilities aren't amazing but do the job with all the essentials stocked by the shop and decent food served by the bar area you feel like you're getting decent value.
