Woldingham Golf Club

What we say

Woldingham Golf Club is set in the picturesque Halliloo Valley near Caterham.  Opened in March 1996, the Club is one of the most attractive golf courses you can play in Surrey all year round with its chalk sub-soil and USGA greens offering excellent drainage.
The golf course is handsomely complemented by the stately clubhouse. There is a comfortable Spike Bar, spacious changing rooms, Pro Shop and a superb function suite with a private lounge and bar area. From the clubhouse there are lovely views of the golf course giving a panoramic snapshot of the golf to come.

I telephoned to book and was told that their 2 for 1 was, pay for 18 holes and then play a second 18 for nothing - not at my age I said ! !

  • 4 out of 5 Nice challenging course

    By rdstagg

Played this course just after some heavy rain and a really awful winter. Greens were pretty good and the course itself was in very good condition considering. The course itself isn't long but every hole requires precise execution and the par 3's were an absolute joy. Will be going back in the summer just to see how it plays when it's fast!!

We arrived to see grand looking clubhouse that serves pretty good grub, with a cosy spike bar looking out towards the 9/18(shared)green. From there onwards it was all downhill I'm afraid. After making our way up a short climb to the first tee we turned to survey the view. Ooops, whose idea was this???? Laid out before us was an uninspiring track to say the least, it all looked so "up and down" with barely anything to separate holes. Just a single line of trees between the 5th and 6th. No challenging doglegs, nothing to really shout about at all. Practically every hole was straight, YAWN!!!! I couldn't get to the 18th quick enough, and yes I'll admit it, the 18th is easily the best hole on the course, a good par 5 with a tricky approach to a shared green, but it didn't have much competion. Okay its still classed as winter so the muddy conditions wont be criticized, but please, this course made me wonder why they bothered. Top golf should've gone there and opened a range, it would've been 1,00000 times better. Sorry, but the upshot is NEVER AGAIN.

This course has many similar holes, which have no protection as this is one of the most wide open courses I have played. For a greater challenge, play at North Downs Golf Club, which is also in Woldingham.

Played here in August and shot a 73. One of the easier courses in this region. Can't picture any signature holes that I would like to play again. Clubhouse is lovely but shame the course doesn't have the same feelgood factor about it.

A Nice course in a sheltered valley, which provides a good days golf. One to consider if the weather is a bit rough as you are fairly well protected by the surrounding hills. Overall there are a nice variety of holes providing a good all round test. The only down side is that a few of the back 9 holes are a bit 'samey', particularly 11,12 & 13. There are however a few great holes such as the short par 4 8th, the green is in reach for the big hitters, but it's surrounded by some huge bunkers!! Also of note is the lovely clubhouse which dominates the course. Overall it's well worth a visit, is good value for money and always seems in good condition.
