St Enodoc Golf Club

What we say
The front nine and closing stretch are top 20 material. Interesting, testing and memorable. Brilliant views matched by a real challenge of golf. This course has a big bite, risk and reward throughout all 18 holes. Picturesque links in a terrific location with no gimmicks.
St Enodoc Golf Club's golf course may be short in the modern era of massive, marathon layouts, but St Enodoc is truly a wonderful, magical place to play the game. You need to carefully plot you way round this Cornish classic - including the church where poet Sir John Betjeman is buried - otherwise you'll be severely punished, specially if the wind is blowing. Yes, brain definitely runs the rule over brawn at St Enodoc where you're treated to some magnificent coastal views...and probably the most fascinating round of golf you've ever played.
'How straight it flew, how long it flew, it clear'd the rutty track and soaring, disappeared from view beyond the bunker's back - a glorious, sailing, bounding drive that made me glad I was alive.' So wrote John Betjeman, influenced, inspired and intoxicated by the seaside majesty of his beloved St Enodoc. We simply say expect natural links and a fearsome bunker on the 6th called Himalaya.

St Enodoc Golf Club's Church Golf Course has changed hardly at all since before the Second World War, though a 2004 review of the golf course by Peter McEvoy resulted in an upgrade including some new fairway bunkers and some additional tees. However, overall golfers today still play the golf course essentially as laid out by James Braid.
St Enodoc is also the home of the Holywell golf course, which closed in 1939 due to wartime labour shortages before re-opening in 1967, using some of the holes originally designed by James Braid in 1928, and being extended to 18 holes in 1982.

Epic links course with fantastic views of the Camel estuary. Not as difficult as you might expect in the wind as it's quite a 'short' course at under 6,400 yds. Not to be missed.
