What we say...
ProQuip has years of experience making waterproofs, and its Silk Touch suit won top honours in our test last year. This year’s Ultralite is 15 per cent lighter and we love the extra attention to detail, which helps this suit to stand out from the waterproof crowd. Extra belt loops, just in case you want to wear a belt, and the company’s dedication to offering every size imaginable is a real bonus when you’re anything other than ‘average’ size.
The full-length zipped jacket is easier to get on in a hurry than the over-the-head variety, as are the trousers thanks to their long leg zips. The whole suit has a liner, which absorbs more water when saturated, and it therefore takes a bit longer to dry than others. But when waterproofs are this lightweight, quiet and comfortable to wear, this really is a minor quibble.
Not quite good enough to win Gold or Silver, but if you want a great waterproof suit and don’t want to pay more than £200, we’d recommend this
