What we say...

The Tech:

The first Ping iron to be made from 431 Stainless Steel. Weight savings from the new steel allow for extra perimeter weighting in a head that blends forgiveness with workability and trajectory control.

 

Our verdict:

Some of the Better Players irons on test are aimed specifically at tour players but the i are different, their slightly larger heads are aimed at a much wider audience. We thought they’re an excellent all-rounder that have the looks and shape to appeal to a decent player but also a degree of forgiveness that’s not expected in this type of iron. The new 431 steel feels and sounds very good and the new MOI tech is obviously working as both ball speed and carry distance drop offs between centre and off centre hits were very tight which is hugely important when carrying hazards.        

 

Bottom line:

A seriously good iron for golfers that like the look of a players iron, but don’t quite have the ball striking to match. An excellent blend of forgiveness, feel, looks and distance. Make sure you take advantage of Ping’s fitting service to ensure you get your perfect set up.

    I had the G30 Irons. GREAT Irons. My game improved. A LOT!!! I went to get "fit" for new clubs. Told them I didn't care what I got, as long as what I got "fit" my game. Four hours later, came away with the New I irons. Wow. They are simply amazing. Improved 9 strokes last year. I am betting on a 4 stroke improvement this year. Simply Amazing Clubs. Go PIng!!!

    GREAT CLUBS I switched from the I-20 to these new I Irons about 2 months ago and could not be more pleased. The thinner top line looks great from address the wider sole helps get the ball in the air and they have great feel at impact. I have the CFS shafts with the cusion inserts and they are awesome. I went from the S-59 to the I-20 and now to these and they are by far the best. Great job Ping.
