What we say...

3 sole grinds give maximum chance to fit each wedge loft to your own game. Progressive groove optimisation ensures you generate spin where you need it most.

Our verdict:

A wedge for the masses as there is simply nothing to not like about the MD3. In our opinion the head shape is spot on, the 8620 steel transmits good feel to the hands and it ranked well up our list in terms of spin. On average it was Simon’s highest spinning wedge, every shot he hit had a carry distance further than the total distance, meaning shots span back which certainly wasn’t the case with every model we hit. With plenty of loft options, three different sole grinds and finishes to choose from we reckon anyone could fit at least a couple of these into their armoury. We love how there’s enough groove and CG tech to convince you it’s not just “another traditional wedge” but not so much to radically change the look of this classic club.

Callaway MD3 Wedge

Bottom line:

A great feeling wedge that thanks to its numerous bounce and grind options has the ability to fit any type of golfer. We loved the MD3 last year and the flame is far from burning out in 2017. Callaway might have a newer forged wedge on the market but for less money we reckon the MD3 is difficult to beat.
