What we say...

This was the favourite Cleveland wedge, with Dave and Jon noting impressive levels of feel and control with the CG14. On the downside the bright yellow colour of the insert was disliked, with Chris noting that it ‘cheapened’ a quality product in his opinion.

Cleveland Golf has unveiled the latest addition to their wedge family, the CG14. They claim the new Cleveland CG14 wedges offer a perfect balance of performance, versatility and forgiveness, all with 'unprecedented' feel.

The CG14’s design integrates Cleveland Golf’s most advanced manufacturing and feel technology with a tour scrutinized shape, sole and offset. They also feature Cleveland Golf’s  wedge technology know as ZIP Grooves, which gives them the biggest and most precisely milled grooves available in a Cleveland wedge. ZIP Grooves are milled to maximum conforming dimensions using a proprietary CNC milled bit that creates envelope-stretching geometry for added shot consistency. The CG14’s larger groove volume helps channel more debris at impact than traditional grooves, making ZIP Grooves perfect for players that want optimal spin and distance control.

The CG14’s also boast Gelback Technology, which is a lightweight, visco-elastic, vibration-dampening material that is positioned in the wedge’s back cavity, directly behind the hitting area of the clubface. Gelback is vibration-tuned to remove unwanted vibration on mis-hits, while still allowing players the necessary feedback from the clubhead for a soft yet responsive feel.

The Cleveland CG14’s wider sole design improves contact on full shots and helps prevent digging on finesse shots around the green. Their tour offset provides a slightly different shape at the address position, while also allowing players to drive the head down and through the impact zone creating a more controlled ball flight.

The CG14 wedge comes standard with a Traction Wedge Shaft, which was designed in collaboration with our tour staff to enhance feel and improve impact consistency on wedge shots. Players will feel more head control on touch shots and a more consistent delivery at impact, which helps to improve the sole-to-turf interaction and effectiveness of bounce.

The CG14 is to be offered in chrome or Black Pearl finishes, as well as a CG14 W-Series women’s model and is expected in the shops in the new year.

Cleveland Wedges User Reviews

  • 5 out of 5 Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    By Markus Condren

I bought a 52* version of the wedge with 12* of bounce a couple of weeks ago and I loved it and have since added a 58* and 60* (bent to 64*) These wedges are great for a couple of reasons, 1. I get amazing amounts of backspin, even from bunkers and deep rough. 2.The gel back insert really helps dampen bad vibrations but doesn't affect feel. 3.Distance control is very good with half and three quarter shots as well as full shots.   Hope this helps...

  • 5 out of 5 No real choice but Cleveland for wedges!

    By Jimmy13

The CG14 are the best wedges on the market by a mile. i bought a new low bounce 60 deg lob wedge and instantly improved my back spin by 50%. So much easier playing the game attacking the pin instead of bump and run shots all the time and these are the wedges for the job. Combined with a quality ball the CG14 will soon become your weapon of choice on the tricky short game shots we dread. Awesome!!!!

  • 5 out of 5 The best wedge ever!

    By jneilharvey

I was looking for a wedge to help me get out of soft sand bunkers when Todays Golfer happened to publish a detailed review of o load they had tested. The Cleveland CG14 came out top and was highly rated by all levels of golfer. Well, I thought .... if it's good enough for them etc....... I managed to acquire one at the good price of £70 and from the fist hit I knew it was the club for me. It has a great soft feel, is well balanced and thanks to the super grooves generates fantastic spin. The club I have has 14 degrees of bounce and makes getting out of bunkers a dream. Worth every penny!
