New 18 hole course in the north-west

Staining Lodge Golf Course, just outside Blackpool, Lancashire, has just been launched as an 18 hole golf course.

The nine hole 80 acre course has doubled in size to become a 6500 yard, 18 hole par 72 course. Set in 160 acres Staining Lodge is the largest pay and play course in the Fylde are of the north-west.

Proprietors Alison and Peter Wigglesworth are excited to see the completion of the project:

“We started planning the development in 2003 and always planned to build an 18-hole golf course. The first nine was launched July 2006 and it’s great to see three years on the realisation of our dream, ” said Peter Wigglesworth.

He added:“It’s a great course designed to appeal to a wide variety of players, and we have been delighted to see local people take up golf now they have a course on their doorstep. ”

Despite speculation that once 18 Staining Lodge will turn into members club the owners plan to keep the course as inclusive as possible with no formal memberships.

The course has golf pros offering lessons, golf carts, hire clubs and trolleys, available to hire from the pro shop. Society packages and corporate days are available.
