The US Masters is fast approaching but surprise, surprise Augusta National GC doesn’t feature in the top three American courses in a recent major poll of the top ranking 200 tracks in the US of A…

Online operator ‘Top 100 Golf Courses’ has just ranked the top courses in the States and Augusta National has to settle for fifth spot, a place behind legendary Californian venue Pebble Beach.

Magical Pine Valley in Pennysylvania came out on top of the pile with Cypress Point (2nd) on the Monterrey Peninsula and Shinnecock Hills (3rd) occupying the other top spots.

This is especially useful because, due to logistics, most golfers cannot play a significant proportion of the Top 100 courses of America as listed by other golf publications. So we believe by extending the list to 200, golfers throughout the States will have a more realistic chance of playing a top ranked course.

The ratings on the Top 100 website blend rankings from all leading publications, as well as their own readers who have the opportunity to influence these figures via the ‘write a review’ facility on the website, which includes the ability to rate a course between 1 and 6 golf balls (6 is the highest rating).
Top 100 Golf Courses is independent, having no association with any magazine publications.
