Great golf and barge break

Fancy doing something different, something special golfing holiday-wise? Then Go Barging can certainly provide that.

You’ll spend a week aboard the Scottish Highlander, a fully-crewed luxury hotel barge which drifts along tranquil waterways, including the Caledonian Canal and the world-famous Loch Ness, through some of the Scotland’s most stunning scenery.

And you’ll step off to play some of Scotland’s finest courses…

You’ll be treated like royalty too with four crew members catering for your every needs, all meals being provided and cooked by a master chef. There’s even an open 24 hour bar at your disposal!

Among the many highlights of the magical 60-mile Highlands cruise is the remains of the 6th century Urquhart Castle overlooking Loch Ness while en-route you stop off to play the mighty links of Royal Dornoch and Nairn and the not-so-well-known Newtonmore and Fort Augustus.

Naturally there’s plenty of whiskey-tasting going on as well as the big finale – the Captain’s farewell dinner.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience doesn’t come cheap,  costing from £1,700 per person (plus a £400 supplement for the golf), but is worth every penny if you want to do something memorable and out-of-the-ordinary.

Walter H. McNulty from Scottsdale, Arizona, USA, summed it up by saying: “I reckon a small group of golfing guys could have a darned good time on here. They don’t have to cook, they’re going to different courses and everything is arranged for them.

“You don’t even have to go to the pub for your liquor – it’s all here! Also, it’s safe because you don’t have to drive anywhere.”
