The Carrick ready for PGA Cup battle

Pre-match events are well underway at De Vere’s stunning Carrick on Loch Lomond golf course as it hosts the 24th PGA Cup matches.

The talking stops on Friday morning when the first match gets underway but for now the two Captains are happy to soak up the atmosphere, keep a watchful eye on the form of their players and enjoy the warm Scottish hospitality at Cameron House, De Vere’s luxury hotel on the banks of Loch Lomond.

The two captains were rich in praise for both the golf course and the hotel and were gearing up for a fantastic weekend of golf.

Gary Alliss, enjoying his second PGA Cup match as GB&I Team Captain, commented, “I was very impressed with The Carrick when I first visited earlier this year, and the greens staff have obviously worked very hard to present the course in championship condition following the recent wet weather.

“It goes without saying that the setting is incredible. The course is very fair and extremely challenging around the greens.”

American Captain, Brian Whitcomb, commented, “We are really privileged to be playing these matches in such a beautiful setting. Our players really like the course and what they see around it.”

Designed by Doug Carrick, The Carrick is regarded as one of the finest new courses in the UK.

The par-71 course meanders between the lowland banks of the famous loch and the undulating highland heath; all of which offers stunning views and a stern test to players of all abilities.

Featuring views across the loch throughout the course, and with a multitude of tee positions, The Carrick offers a stern test of golf for tour pros and holiday golfers alike.
