Great year for Golfbreaks.com

Leading golf travel company Golfbreaks.com has announced strong 2009/2010 year-end results, with a 12% increase in overall bookings and year-end revenues growing to more than £25million.

Golfbreaks.com sent a record 150,000 golfers – 50% of which were repeat customers – on holidays and breaks over the past 12 months, with all areas of the business showing significant growth, including its Europe business which grew by 36%, underpinned by an increase in the number of golfers visiting Portugal, France and Spain, rising by 44%, 37% and 27% respectively.

However, breaks to destinations, such as Morocco, South Africa and Turkey, experienced the biggest growth with a 48% increase in bookings year-on-year, more than half of which were made by golfers travelling to the latter.

The UK also saw bookings to its golf clubs and resorts grow with Scotland and Ireland experiencing the biggest increases, with a rise of +12% and +23% respectively.

Andrew Stanley, Chief Executive of Golfbreaks.com, said: “Despite the challenging economic climate, these results portray a very positive picture. We are finding that more golfers than ever are now taking advantage of the great deals that are currently available. Although people are booking nearer to their travel dates, the late booking market has never been as buoyant as it is right now.

“These results are very encouraging and we are confident our ambitious expansion and growth strategy will continue to deliver profitable results for 2011 and beyond.”

Golfers making a booking through any of the businesses – Golfbreaks.com, Teeofftimes.co.uk or Bookaspa.com – can earn Break Points, a unique loyalty scheme that rewards customers with one point for every £10 spent, which can then be redeemed against any future transactions across all companies.

Golfbreaks.com offers over 950 stunning venues and is widely recognised as the expert when it comes to golf breaks, golf holidays and golf tours across the UK, Europe and Worldwide.
