Westwood new tour pro at Close House

Lee Westwood is the new ‘Attached Tour Professional’ at Close House, Newcastle, where the new  ‘Colt Course’ was officially opened by Westwood in May.

Westwood, who finished 3rd in the US Open, said:”I thoroughly enjoyed my day playing at the official celebrity-amateur opening at Close House and I am delighted to be their Official Tour Professional.

“I think Close House is a perfect members course that has the capability of staging a major tournament in years to come.  For a brand new course it is in great condition.  The greens are of a very high quality and I am looking forward to going back and playing it again”.

Owner of Close House, Graham Wylie commented: “It is both an honour and a privilege to have a golfer of Lee’s stature representing Close House and is an endorsement to the course and facilities.  This is great news for Close House and the North East of England”.

As Attached Tour Professional, Westwood’s management team announced that the Close House logo will appear on Westwood’s cap at every event, combined with an announcement on every tee of his relationship with the venue.

The Par 71 Colt Course measures 6813 yards and spans 160 acres of the Tyne Valley.

Renowned golf course designer Scott MacPherson carefully planned the course around the existing well established trees, lakes and vegetation to fit with an intended old fashioned design.  The course already looks mature and established. The venue is located 8.5 miles from Newcastle city centre and Newcastle International Airport.
