Dorset G&CC pockets five star award…again!

Popular 2-FORE!-1 venue the Dorset Golf & Country Club has received the highest accolade from Visit Britain – its coveted five star Gold Award – for the third year running.

Visit Britain awarded The Dorset Resort with the Gold Award for its outstanding Luxury Homes, its food, attention to detail, customer service and surroundings, and is one of only a few awarded each year throughout the country.

This makes the Dorset Resort the only 5 Star Resort in the county of Dorset, which is a splendid achievement considering that Dorset is a holiday destination with a lot of rentable accommodation.

Marc Windust, Corporate Manager, said: “To be acknowledged as a 5 star holiday destination is a massive honour, but to achieve the highest marks possible and receive the Gold Award for the third year is very special.

“With Olympic gold medals being handed out we were very happy to receive gold in our own specialist field. We all feel so proud here as so much hard work goes in to running the resort and we are all very dedicated to continue to achieve high standards”.

The 12 Fairy tale Scandinavian-style houses at the Dorset Resort are very different types of buildings not often seen in the English Countryside. Made entirely from trees grown in the Nordic forests of Finland, these houses create a unique healthy living environment because the wood “breathes” whilst at the same time being a better insulator than brick.

Located in a quiet wooded glade these beautiful houses sleep up to eight people and can be rented throughout the year. Each one has a fully fitted kitchen, luxurious furniture, natural oiled pine floors, walls and ceilings, wood burning stoves, sauna in every home, verandas and trolly sheds.  –

Combine this with 27 Holes of championship parkland golf, a huge air-conditioned Clubhouse and delicious home cooked cuisine with an ever changing menu supplied by its team of talented chefs, it becomes clearer why the resort boasts around a 65% repeat business rate.

A lot of work has taken taken place on the course of late with improved irrigation, additional pathways and numerous cosmetic enhancements have taken the courses to a new level and ensured the courses stayed open during the torrential rain in June & July.

In fact the course gets better every year with its superb large greens and clover shaped bunkers making playing golf a delight, specially for 2-FORE!-1 voucher holders.
