Lumine leads golf tourism drive in Costa Dorada

A major bid is being made to turn the Costa Dorada region of Spain into a red-got golfing destination with the 45-hole facility at Lumine Golf Club leading the way.

A landmark agreement between Lumine GC, the Tourist Board of the Tarragona Provincial Government, and the Association of European Golf Professionals has been announced, aligning three significant stakeholders in a partnership designed to drive golf tourism in stunning Costa Dorada.

Lumine kick-started the all-new partnership by unveiling it’s first-ever stay and play packages, designed to welcome visitors from all over Europe.

“The partnership with the Tarragona Provincial Government and the Association of European PGA Golf Professionals is significant for us and demonstrates our commitment to becoming one of the world’s foremost golfing facilities,” commented Calle Carlsson, Lumine’s General Manager.

He added: “We are committed to growing the sport and realise our responsibility to the local region, hence why the support of local organisations and governing bodies will be important to us moving forward.

“However, with two championship golf courses on site we also have the desire to host high-profile professional events. Aligning with the PGAs of Europe is the first step in realising that goal. The first opportunity to showcase our tournament credentials came at the European Fourball Championship last month, which was considered a resounding success by all involved.”

Lumine boasts a host of world-class amenities, such as a stunning Beach Club, several restaurants, two clubhouses and three golf courses (two of which are designed by golf legend Greg Norman) and managed by leading management company, Troon Golf.

The exclusive packages, unveiled by the impressive resort, are ideal for couples, groups or young families and available from the 23rd of March until the 15th of June in two different options.

The first includes one night’s accommodation, two days of unlimited golf, plus dining in the clubhouse post-golf and an evening meal at Lumine’s delectable restaurant for just €160 per person. The second option includes two nights’ accommodation, 3 days unlimited golf, plus food and beverages for €170pp.

Located on 170 acres, its three courses make up 45-holes of golf. The Lakes Course, a links-style championship course designed by golfing legend Greg Norman, features several water hazards that wind around the Sèquia Major wetlands.

While The Hills Course, Lumine’s second championship course runs through white pine trees and offers spectacular views of the nearby coastline. Completing the golf offering is the 9-hole Ruins Course, another Greg Norman design, uniquely laid out amongst Roman archaeological remains from the second century BC.
