Elea GC to stage special Olympics Open

Eléa Golf Club, Sir Nick Faldo’s highly acclaimed ‘Mediterranean Masterpiece’ in Paphos, Cyprus, has announced it will stage the Cyprus Golf Federation’s annual Special Olympics Open competition on Sunday, June 10.

This popular event raises money for Special Olympics Cyprus and is expected to attract over 100 entries, men and women, from across the country. Organisers also anticipate 20 Special Olympians will attend the day, taking part in a golf skills challenge at the Eléa Golf Academy.

The main event, an 18-hole strokeplay competition, is open to all golfers with a maximum handicap of 36, and will take place over the Sir Nick Faldo designed golf course, acclaimed as one of the ‘Top 10 New International Golf Courses of 2010’ by golf.com and named ‘Best International Leisure Development’ at the prestigious International Property Awards 2011.

Ross Robertson, Eléa Estate’s Director of Golf Operations, said: “We are proud to support Cyprus’ Special Olympians in this, an Olympic year, and we look forward to welcoming guests from across the country to enjoy the hospitality and service Eléa Estate has to offer.”

Nick Rossides, General Secretary of the Cyprus Golf Federation, added: “The Special Olympics Open is always a memorable event in the CGF calendar and we thank Eléa Estate for staging this for the first time. Cyprus’ Special Olympians are an inspiring group of individuals and we are proud to give them all the proceeds from the day to help further their sporting achievements.”

The last day for entries is June 4th, 2012. Entry fees are: €55 for CGF members (€30 for Eléa Golf Club members) that includes 18 holes of golf, and lunch in the fabulous surroundings of the Eléa Estate clubhouse. All applicants are required to register for the event through the online application form under the events page on the Cyprus Golf Federation website (www.cgf.org.cy).
