La manga getting ready to hit the bullseye

Golf fans with a love of darts are being offered the chance to meet some of the game’s stars and step up to the oche to take part in the first annual Golf and Darts Classic at Spain’s La Manga Club resort.

Top players including world top-ten ace Terry Jenkins, Steve Beaton, Wayne Mardle and Peter Manley will all be appearing in the four-day sunshine, golf and darts spectacular – with a team of four people costing €2,352 (£1,960 approx and £490 approx per person).

Taking place from February 5-8, 2013, the event gives golfers the opportunity to compete against their heroes in a 36-hole Stableford competition on La Manga Club’s renowned North and South courses and see the stars in action in a darts exhibition evening.

Also included in the cost is three nights’ bed and breakfast accommodation in the award-winning resort’s five-star hotel, welcome drinks reception, entertainment and food on the exhibition night and final-evening presentation dinner with drinks package.

Packages are based on two people sharing a room and also include tax but, with only 20 team places available, people are being urged to book quickly to avoid missing out on the inaugural event.

During a glittering career, Jenkins has reached seven major darts finals and 23 major semi-finals and is regarded as one of the most consistent players in the world.

Beaton, nicknamed ‘The Bronzed Adonis’, has been one of the most stars in the game over the last 20 years, Manley has played in three world championship finals while Mardle was a world championship semi-finalist four times in his career before making the smooth transition to the television commentary box.

The celebrity quartet is set to join the galaxy of star names from the world of sport and showbusiness that have enjoyed La Manga Club’s first-class facilities since it opened in 1972.

David Beckham, Robbie Williams, Matt Damon, Andy Murray and the late Seve Ballesteros are just some of the celebrities to have stayed at the luxury resort and helped it become Europe’s best sports and leisure destination.

La Manga Club boasts unrivalled facilities as a sport and leisure venue including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre.

It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses, more than 20 bars and restaurants and is great fun for children.
