Grandad, grandad… you’re lovely!

Grandfather Richard Whitehead teamed-up with grandson Elliot MacGregor to storm into the grand final of the Adult/Junior Par-3 Series at Hoebridge Golf Centre, Surrey, with a six-shot victory in the third qualifying round.

The grand final, to be played on Saturday, October 13, will see the return of 16 qualifying pairs from the initial three rounds, to compete for the trophy over the public pay-and-play facility’s superb par-3 Maybury Course.

Securing their place with victory scoring 54 Stableford points in the third round, the grandfather and grandson set the pace, defeating round two winners, father-and-daughter duo James and Victoria Maughan who finished second.

Mark and Dylan Fitch from Isleworth scored 46 points to finish third and also secure their place in the grand final

Mike O’Connell, Hoebridge Golf Centre Senior General Manager, said: “The beauty of the Adult/Junior Par-3 Series is that everyone has a great opportunity to make the grand final whether they play all three qualifiers or just one.

“There’s no doubt it’ll be a well-fought final as each of the teams to make it through has already battled hard to make the grade.”

For golfers that have missed out on the opportunity to play in this year’s Adult/Junior Par-3 Series, Hoebridge – part of BGL Golf, the UK’s leading golf course owner and operator – is hosting its annual Adult and Junior Spooky Night Golf event on Sunday, October 28, where glow-in-the-dark markers line the fairways and golfers play with luminous golf balls.
