Abu Dhabi GC And Saadiyat Beach GC Report Record Rounds

New figures released by Troon Golf have revealed that two of Abu Dhabi’s leading courses – Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club – experienced a record 76% growth in the number of International Tour Operator rounds booked in the first quarter of 2013 compared with 2012.

Growth has come predominantly from the European market, with a near two fold increase in rounds played compared with the same period in 2012.  The figures for January – March also revealed that February was the busiest month of the quarter, up 80% on the same month in 2012.  Broken down by club, Abu Dhabi Golf Club experienced an overall 57% increase in rounds whilst Saadiyat Beach Golf Club was up by as much as 99%.

“This performance demonstrates Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club’s established golf tourism strategy and the strong relationships we continue to develop with core tour operator partners,” said Group General Manager, Chris Card.

“The trends are testament to the facilities’ growing reputation in the international golfing arena, not only for the championship golf but for the unrivalled facilities and our convenient location as a stop-over for business travel.  The mission ahead is to maintain the momentum and continue to maximise the impact and awareness of the experience for our guests and industry partners alike.”

The burgeoning figures can also in part be attributed to the over-arching success of ‘Golf in Abu Dhabi’, the umbrella marketing, communications, product packaging and distribution platform developed by the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority to increase the emirate’s penetration of the golf tourism segment.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club and Saadiyat Beach Golf Club are ideally positioned for domestic and international guests, located within a 20 minute drive of the Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club plays host to the European Tour’s prestigious Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and is a favourite amongst the world’s elite players.

Meanwhile, Saadiyat Beach Golf Club is the first beach-front course in the Middle East as well as home to an impressive Golf Academy and hawksbill Restaurant.
