The Carrick goes from strength to strength

The Carrick on Loch Lomond, one of Scotland’s premier 5-star golf resorts, has underlined its ongoing commitment to delivering first-class guest experiences by unveiling several significant investments.

Located on the banks of Loch Lomond, the picturesque resort has spent over £50,000 developing its retail offering in conjunction with TaylorMade-Adidas Golf; employed up-and-coming Golf Professional, Andrew McIntyre, and is celebrating the election of General Manager, Ross Whitfield, to the prestigious board of Golf Tourism Scotland ahead of next years’ Ryder Cup.

Through its world-class golf facilities, expertly maintained course, and unrivalled level of service, The Carrick is playing a prominent role in the wider success of De Vere Golf.

“The Carrick has invested significant time and effort identifying areas for improvement, as we strive to continue improving our guest services,” commented Ross Whitfield.

“I am delighted that we have been able to invest in a number of areas and recruit new personnel which further enhances our offering to members and visitors alike.

“The golf shop offers a great variety of products and golf wear, with all the latest equipment from the leading manufacturers. Meanwhile, Andrew, as new Golf Professional will work closely with Head Professional, Gavin Abson, as part of the instruction team at our Golf Academy to offer lessons and advice.”

McIntyre has a strong coaching résumé since turning professional in 2006, when he embarked upon his PGA training at The Ranfurly Castle Golf Club, Bridge of Weir.

He was also instrumental in developing a club-wide coaching infrastructure, which led to many successes for the club, including being crowned ‘National Junior Club of the Year’ in 2009.

Further highlighting the success of the resort is the announcement that Whitfield, General Manager, has been elected to serve on the Board of Golf Tourism Scotland.

With the Ryder Cup heading to Scotland in 2014 for the first-time since 1973, Whitfield will be involved in ensuring the event brings success to Scottish resorts and the wider golf tourism industry.

His appointment follows him playing an integral part in The Carrick’s continued development and growth, since opening in 2008, and the resort will this year welcome some of the world’s most powerful business leaders as it plays host to the World Corporate Golf Challenge World Final.

Daniel Hodson, De Vere Director of Golf noted, “I am delighted by Ross’s appointment. The recognition he has received is thoroughly well deserved. He is an incredibly ambitious individual and does an outstanding job in representing De Vere Golf.  We’re thrilled to have him as a member of our team and I’m sure Golf Tourism Scotland will thrive with his input moving forward.”
