The Shropshire GC bags GolfMark award

The Shropshire Golf Centre has been awarded the prestigious GolfMark ‘High Achiever’ award by England Golf.

GolfMark is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities and the distinction of ‘High Achiever’ is only awarded to those which have met additional conditions, over and above those minimum standards required.

The public pay-and-play centre, which is part of BGL Golf, has all the facilities to welcome families and young golfers, including a 27-hole course complimented by a family friendly Par-3 Short Course and a 30-bay covered and floodlit driving range and putting green.

PGA Professional, Tom Gibbs has spearheaded The Shropshire Golf Centre’s campaign to receive the GolfMark award and was also recently appointed as Junior Organiser to help continue the development and management of junior programmes and competitions.

Stuart Perry, The Shropshire Golf Centre General Manager, said: “It is testament to Tom’s hard work and dedication to promoting junior golf, that we have received the GolfMark award.”

In addition to receiving GolfMark, The Shropshire will also be recognised by Sport England as a Clubmark facility – a national standard for quality sports clubs with junior sections, recognised across the country.
