Stylish stay and play in the rural fenland

KEEN golfers are this summer invited to tee-up and stay at a Cambridgeshire estate where the course is open all year round.

Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club near Wisbech is offering special rates to players wishing to play and stay at its par 70 course in 2013.

Adrian Hurst, Managing Director, said: “I designed the course in the 1990s and it measures around 6,300 yards while its larger than average greens and tees, which are immaculately kept, offer a challenge for all levels of play.

“Our golf packages start from as little as £30 per person per night with four sharing a three bedroom unit. This includes two days unlimited golf, lunch or evening dinner in the club house, trolley hire, 20% off buggy hire and each guest will receive a Tydd logo ball.”

Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club has also recently launched a £2million leisure complex.

Adrian added: “Our new development includes a swimming pool, steam room and sauna so after a day golfing guests can unwind before getting tucked-up in one of our luxury holiday homes on the estate.”

The leisure complex features a heated indoor pool with a coco jet machine, which controls the water current, as well as a fully air-conditioned fitness suite.

Tydd St Giles Golf & Country Club is set within the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens between Kings Lynn and Spalding in 150 acres of landscaped grounds.

Adrian continued: “It provides the perfect hidden getaway for those wanting a second home or simply to holiday in style. Our Country Homes, designed for perfect relaxation turn the concept of lodge life quite literally upside down – with bedrooms and bathrooms on the ground floor and a spacious kitchen-dining room, lounge and landing on the second.

“Our detached and semi-detached properties are based on the concept of the Caribbean villas at our sister site Royal Westmoreland, Barbados, which is universally acknowledged as the best golf resort in the Caribbean.

“They boast more than 1,000 square feet of luxurious living space spread over two floors, are available with two or three bedrooms and come complete with everything from plush furnishings to wide-screen TVs.”

Properties on the estate include holiday lodges with two or three bedrooms and private decking areas by the lake where al fresco dinners can be enjoyed in the warmer months. Prices to stay in a two bedroom lodge start from £275 per week, while a week-long break in a three bedroom lodge costs from £325.

The estate’s Country Homes are available with two or three double bedrooms and can sleep up to six people. Prices start from £370 for a seven day stay. Both styles of property are also available to be purchased as holiday homes.

Tydd St Giles G&CC first opened as a nine-hole golf course in 1995 and became a holiday venue in 2009 with the addition of seven holiday lodges. It is celebrating its 18th anniversary this year.
