Sir Alex Ferguson Celebrates Member’s Ace At De Vere Mottram Hall

A lucky member at De Vere Mottram Hall recently experienced one of the best days of his life when, after acing the par-3 3rd during his round, he was presented a congratulatory bottle of champagne and a framed scorecard by Sir Alex Ferguson.

John Doyle met the former manager in the Claret Jug bar, where the new Honorary Captain at De Vere Mottram Hall awarded the Manchester United fan with the momentos.

Ferguson has been an active member at De Vere Mottram Hall for a number of years, regularly playing on the course which is set to host the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship next week.

After hearing the news he was delighted to present Doyle with his commemorative framed scorecard and bottle of champagne to mark the occasion.

Doyle was clearly thrilled about how his day unfolded: “That was an incredible feeling when I saw the ball drop into the hole. It was the perfect start to the round and I was still smiling as I walked off the 18th green!

“I have to say that to have Sir Alex Ferguson come outside and present me with my prizes was an amazing experience, something I will never forget. I know he will be a great ambassador for Mottram Hall and it is always fantastic to see him here. I’d like to say thank you to everyone at the club for making it happen.”

The ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship will take place at Mottram Hall for the first time between the 6-9 June, following a major £6 million makeover which has transformed the entire resort.

In preparation, the course has undergone a number of refurbishments, including the addition of several new and renovated bunkers, water features and aesthetic improvements.

Legends of the game, including Ryder Cup Captains Ian Woosnam, Mark James and Sam Torrance have confirmed their attendance and will experience renowned De Vere hospitality in the new contemporary clubhouse, featuring De Vere’s signature Claret Jug bar and restaurant, a sensational halfway house, and refurbished golf shop and changing rooms.

The converted 18th century country house hotel has also been given a full makeover, along with the Club and Spa to provide the very best facilities, making every stay extra special.
