Costa Dorada venue going from strength to strength

Lumine Golf Club this week demonstrated its growing status as one of Continental Europe’s most alluring and sought-after golfing destinations, welcoming over 400 golfers across its two championship courses in a single day.

On the back of a record year in which the resort has already out-performed its forecasted rate of uptake from core European Golf target markets, with increased Year-on-Year international tour operator rounds up 254%, Lumine continues to cement its position as a leading light in the golf industry.

“Four hundred rounds in one day has always been a benchmark number we have been striving to hit and I’m delighted that we have achieved this feat so early into what will be an extremely busy period for us over the coming months,” commented Calle Carlsson, General Manager Lumine Golf & Beach Club.

“Our entire team has been working tirelessly to deliver 45-holes of golf in pristine condition along with the very best in service hospitality and value in the game. It’s these aspects that see increasing numbers of golfers return to us every year.”

Lumine will also be the centre of attention next month as aspiring young professionals and seasoned campaigners will battle it out at the Second Stage of European Tour Qualifying School over the Greg Norman designed Lakes course, in hope of securing their playing rights for the 2014 season.

November also sees international tourism suppliers, buyers and media from around the world descend upon Lumine for the 16th edition of golf’s premier travel show, the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM). Taking place from 11th -14th November, this high-profile event will be the undoubted highlight event of the year and will see the Troon-managed resort and the Costa Dorada region demonstrates its diverse golf, leisure and cultural offering.

Elsewhere on the packed calendar of premier events, the PGAs of Europe Fourball Championship returns to Lumine from the 1st -3rd March 2014 and takes place over both the Lakes and Hills layouts. An impressive 120 pairs will compete in a highly-competitive better-ball tournament that continues to go from strength-to-strength and provides a welcome spring time competition for PGA Professionals from across Europe.
