La Manga in the running for hat-trick of travel titles

The five-star La Manga Club is seeking to complete an unprecedented hat-trick by being named Spain’s no.1 resort in Today’s Golfer’s annual Travel Awards for a third year in a row.

The award-winning venue was the unanimous choice of readers of the leading UK golf magazine in 2011 and 2012 and once again is in the running for the coveted title after enjoying another outstanding 12 months.

Among its significant achievements under the leadership of new director of golf Gary Silcock, La Manga Club hosted the 2013 Spanish Amateur Championship for the first time in its illustrious history and staged the inaugural Severiano Ballesteros Golf Day.

In addition, the resort increased its number of UK golf break bookings by more than a third while it has been selected to host the 2014 Spanish Seniors Championship and a prestigious PGAs of Europe international pro-am early next year.

And La Manga Club has received further recognition in the last month after its famous South Course – which has held numerous high-profile tournaments over the years including the Spanish Open five times – was included in Golf World’s influential ‘Top 200 Courses in Europe’ poll for the first time.

But it is by no means a foregone conclusion – this year’s competition, across all categories, is hotter than ever, and that certainly includes the Best Value (Continental Europe) competition won by The Algarve, Portugal, last year.

But, at the end of the day, it’s you the golfing public at large who will decide and you can cast your votes at www.todays-golfer.com/tgtravelawards. Entries close on November 30 and don’t forget one lucky voter stands to win a fantastic stay & play break (for two people) at top Kent links venue Prince’s.
