Cobra L5V Driver

Cobra are launching what they are confident is their biggest and best ever driver – The Cobra L5V driver!

Engineered to produce drives that are longer and straighter than ever, the multi-material Cobra L5V driver not only possesses the largest and most forgiving club face in golf, it also features Cobra’s new Adjustable Flight Technology. Not only that, but the Cobra L5V driver has two adjustable shaft settings to optimize your personal ball flight! This is something a bit special in the world of golf equipment and we’re excited to bring you all the info..

Adjustability

The new King Cobra L5V driver uses a special hosel sleeve with two built-in face settings: Standard (0) and Increased Draw-Bias (1). Each driver is factory set in the Standard position. This allows golfers to straighten out their trajectory or have the option to encourage a draw when required. As yet, swappable shafts are not available but may become so in the future.

Looks

Last year’s cobra L4V driver was a well designed and extremely solid driver which also performed well in our driver test. However, the new king cobra L5V is a huge improvement in the looks department and early testing suggests it has even more available power. Visually, the club looks stunning and the enlarged face really inspires confidence behind the ball.

TG Equipment Editor Jon Greathead got to try the cobra L5V before anybody else and has been raving about it ever since! He says “The L5V is one of the best-looking clubs I’ve seen this year. It looks like you can’t miss with it and although it’s right up to the 460cc limit it looks absolutely enormous! Within 25 minutes of hitting my first ball I had reduced my backspin dramatically and was hitting long, flat bombs instead of sky high efforts into outer space!”.

Technology

Cobra claim the L5V has the largest club face in golf which provides maximum COR across the face and results in am extremely high level of forgiveness. This is also helped by the “Dual Rhombus Face Insert”. The club also has a lightweight carbon composite crown and sole inserts to move the CG to a position lower and further back. This raises up the MOI (moment of intertia) to give the golfer plenty of forigeness on mishits in particular.

Shafts

The cobra L5V is available in three different shaft configurations which will help best optimise your ball speed depending on how fast you swing the club. The X Speed Shaft (for top layers) comes with the 8.5 degree clubhead; the F Speed Shaft for faster ball speed players comes with the 9.5 and 10.5 clubhead while the M Speed for moderate speed golfers comes with the 11.5 option.
