Controversial Nike advert featuring Tiger Woods

By now you will no doubt have picked up on the furore surrounding the controversial new Nike video starring Tiger Woods and now you can view it here in all its glory.

The advert has been shot entirely in black-and-white and features Woods staring into the camera without uttering a single word during its 32-second duration.

Instead, the only voice that can be heard is a recording of Woods’ father, the late Earl Woods, talking about responsibility and asking if he has learned anything – apparently referring to the golfer’s much-publicised off-course transgressions.

The advert was released to coincide withi Woods’ return to golf at this year’s US Masters.

However, it has been criticised in some quarters for being “creepy” (his father died in 2006) and for seeking to gain exposure on the back of Woods’ troubles. But the world number one has defended it saying: “I think it’s very apropos. It’s amazing how my dad can speak to me in different ways, even when he’s long gone.

“I think any son who had lost a father who meant so much in life would understand.”

Nike has been one of the few sponsors to stand by Woods during the scandal that rocked the world of golf while others such as Accenture, AT&T and Gatorade cancelled endorsements.
