Stuart Appleby’s winning clubs

Australian Stuart Appleby fired a sensational final round of 59 to win the Greenbrier Classic on the PGA Tour.

The Callaway staff player came from seven shots back to beat Jeff Overton by a stroke and become just the 5th player on the PGA Tour to reach the 59 milestone.

“I knew what it was all about,” Appleby said of the 10-foot putt he faced on the 18th. “I knew I had to make it – I knew I had to make it for the tournament, I knew I had to make it to have a 59. I’m sitting there going ‘How many opportunities are you going to get to do this?’ The cards had been laying out perfectly for me all day. Why wasn’t I going to do one more? I just got a good look at it and just, bang, it felt good.”

Appleby’s outstanding performance on Sunday was all about straight driving and deadly putting – he averaged 301 yards off the tee using the FT Tour driver and required just 23 putts with his Odyssey White Hot XG putter. He also hit 15 of 18 greens, setting up birdie chances on virtually every hole.

For the week, Appleby averaged 1.632 putts per GIR (2nd best in the field) and 27 putts per round (3rd best in the field). He also averaged 307 yards off the tee, hit 73% of fairways and 80% of greens over the four days.

Appleby is also an ECCO ambassador and wore the premium World Class GTX shoe for the four days of the tournament.
