Oliver Wilson puts Odyssey BACKSTRYKE putter in the bag

Callaway staff player Oliver Wilson has put a revolutionary new Odyssey BACKSTRYKE putter in the bag for the Dubai Desert Classic.

Last week TG senior equipment editor Jon Greathead brought you news of these unusual putters from the PGA show in Orlando and now Ryder Cup player Wilson has become the first pro to put one in the bag by using the BACKSTRYKE 2-ball in Dubai.

The key feature of the new wands is that the shaft is positioned at the back of the head rather than at the face like conventional putters.

This allows the golfer to have a clear sight line between the parallel and perpendicular alignment aids without a shaft in the way! The position of the shaft also helps the hands to be positioned properly on the club which helps to promote true roll and stability.

Wilson told the world about his putter switch on his Twitter page and said: “Changed putters for this week to the Odyssey 2 Ball Backstryke… check it out, its a bit different!”

Different it certainly is and we’re looking forward to getting one in our hands soon to test it out and we’ll tell you all about it.
