Video review: Mizuno MX-1000 irons

It used to be that super game-improvement irons meant lugging big, chunky beasts around in your bag – but with Mizuno’s new MX-1000 irons, they’ve decided not to conform to this notion.

These new weapons of grass destruction are aimed squarely at the higher handicapper looking to improve and get more enjoyment out of their game. They are hollow for additional forgiveness and feature a hot-metal face for added ball speed.

But this doesn’t mean they are the ugly sisters of the Mizuno range. Somehow, the Japanese forging legends have managed to fit this technology into a head which looks almost as good as it plays.

To put this to the test TG’s gear duo Jonathan Greathead and David Connor took them out onto the range for a bash. You can see how they got on in the video below.
