Fred Couples keeps it casual with ECCO shoes

US golfing legend Fred Couples has enjoyed a great start to 2010 on the Champions Tour with two wins and a runners-up finish already – while wearing street-style trainers!

Couples is a brand ambassador for ECCO shoes, which are renowned for street-inspired styling but this year they have taken it a step further by introducing a line of golf trainers which can be worn on and off the course.

And the former Masters champion has taken to wearing the ECCO Golf Street Premier in competition while he currently posts a cumulative 56-under-par total for his 162 holes on the Champions Tour thus far.

They feature full-grain leather uppers and a new, low-profile, direct-injected PU midsole. The semi-transparent TPU outsole showcases bright, funky colours, as well as pre-molded traction bars that are extremely durable and provide enhanced grip.

Couples also wears ECCO’s Casual Cool II GTX, which, like the Street Premier, have the appearance of a casual trainer but also have spikes like regular golf shoes.

Since joining the Champions Tour this year Couples has already won the Toshiba Classic and the ACE Group Classic.
