In the bag video with Jose-Felipe Lima

Jose-Felipe Lima may be classed as Portugal’s number one golfer – but the Titleist staff player learned his craft in France.

Lima has Portuguese parents but was born and raised in France, representing them at every level up until 2004, when he switched allegiences to the country of his parentage before representing them at the WGC World Cup in 2005.

He started his high-level professional career impressively when, after qualifying to play on the Challenge Tour in 2004, he quickly won two events back to back. These included the St Omer Open which, as a dual-ranking event with the European Tour, won him promotion to the top level.

His career suffered a blip when he lost his card on the European Tour in 2008 but regained playing privileges again in 2009 following another successful season on the Challenge Tour.

The Frenchman-come-Portuguese is now hoping to establish himself again at the top level in Europe although he now faces a battle to keep his Tour card again for next year.

TG’s Features Writer Kit Alexander caught up with Lima at this year’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth to talk through the clubs he’s hoping to do it with.
